The Stour Sailing Club is in the enviable position of being located within the town of Manningtree and right on the River Stour waterline.

The Club’s premises comprise of the clubhouse, the West compound, slipway and quay, the East compound which has a permanent starting hut and a marquee erected for part of the year. There are pontoons under development which will be located just beyond the quay plus a floating dock just beyond the channel for the safety boat(s).

Between the East and West compounds is a public beach area and next to the East compound is a public access slipway.

Whilst the clubhouse and the West compound have security locks the other areas are open access although clearly marked as private property with access denied to all except for club members and visiting yachts.

There is CCTV coverage on the front of the clubhouse and in the West compound.

Whilst in general there are few incidents a procedure is required to ensure that firstly, incidents are logged so that as a club we can keep a precise and complete record of any incidents, and, secondly the actions taken by club members does not put themselves or the reputation of the club in any dangerous or detrimental position.

We have taken advice from the Police and the Marine Police.
