Category 1: Wildlife / Action

1st Annie Lister: Hippo

Great shot with a lovely monochrome feel about it. Combines interesting reflections with a menacing feel about it. The image fills the frame and leaves nothing to the imagination.

2nd Alan Tuttlebury: Mr & Mrs Frog

Well caught at a delicate moment! The eyes of the frogs are beautifully sharp with the focus falling off to the rear. Interesting combination of colours, just a little shame the frogs are sitting on concrete.

3rd Maria Vigneau: Dog & reflection

Cracking shot of a nice looking dog. He / she has been caught In an alert stance which makes the dog more interesting and also stands out from the nicely plain background.

Category 2: Boats / Watercraft

1st Ruth Gee: Boats on beach

Certainly lives up to the plural of the category! This image has captured so much going on and there is plenty to see all around the image. It’s caught a busy moment in time.

2nd Jan McBride: Boats on water

A number of interesting elements in this Image; Good foreground base, busy middle ground and nice misty background. Finally, a lovely sky. Good from bottom to top.

3rd Kevin Misselbrook: Blue Mermaid

Fine detail shot with beautiful lighting on the wood. The background puts the vessel in its environment. Lots of good “boating” details.

Category 3: Sport / Action

1st Ruth Gee: Tennis Player

Only one actual “Sports” entry – Ruth Gee’s, Tennis Player. This image has caught the player well, in an interesting stance with him ready for another shot. Shame the judge is in the background.

Category 4: Local Scenes / Reflections

1st Jan McBride: Riverside Scene

Great combination of both elements of the Category- a panoramic of the riverside buildings and matching reflections. Quite a bit of superfluous sky but striking image.

2nd Kevin Misselbrook: Dawn on the Stour

Definitely early morning with a rising mist. Warm colours and nice detail in the sky. A nice soothing image. Also has a nice reflection of the rising sun.

3rd Jan McBride: Evening Reflection

What a nice sky . . . Can’t go wrong with this lovely image. Beautiful reds and blues, well caught. Another soothing image with a few reflections creeping in too.
