Mike Moss Trophy
Mike and I had enjoyed being members of SSC for over 30 years before he died in 1998.
We learnt our sailing by joining in the races in our GP 14 and later in a National 18.
Eventually we progressed to cruising, at first in a Westerley Centaur with an outboard only (in which we took our family to Holland!) then a 26ft Maurice Griffiths Storm.
Eventually Mike took the Yachtmaster & Yachtmaster Ocean & on his retirement we could finally get beyond Schiermonigog, (Dutch Fresian Islands).
We then did 3 trips to the Baltic, the first twice in the Maurice Griffiths then, tired of always having to put in much longer days than other larger yachts, we bought a 30ft Seadog & sailed to Finland.
At the time we were members of the Cruising Club & Mike wrote up two of the trips as an entry into their 'Log Cup' competition.
It seemed appropriate to start that tradition in the SSC & seemed a fitting way to give thanks for our life in sailing.
