The Club’s annual Gala Dinner was held on November 1st at the Royal Harwich Yacht Club. Our Commodore, David Warner, was very pleased to have as honoured guests Ray Smith, Commodore of Shotley Sailing Club and his wife Karen, plus, Robert Day, Commodore of Harwich and Dovercourt Sailing Club, and his wife Michelle.
This was a black tie event and the 81 guests all stepped up to the mark looking very dapper (for the men) and glamorous (for the women).
Providing the music was Gina Silburn, a singer with a beautiful voice and wide repertoire of classical, jazz, easy listening and current hits. As guests arrived they were served a welcome drink and Gina sang some wonderful songs which all went to set the scene in this lovely venue.
James, the Operations and Events Manager at Royal Harwich, and his team looked after everyone superbly throughout the night. We had a wonderfully delicious meal and a short speech from our Commodore before retiring for coffee whilst the dance floor was made ready.
After that Gina sang a range of songs keeping everyone dancing right through the remainder of the evening.
The evening ended, all too soon, at midnight when everyone went home having enjoyed a very pleasant evening among friends.
Report by Sarah Howlett whose hard work made the event possible.
Below is a selection of photos taken by Stephen Hopkins, who still found time to enjoy himself.
