Hi Everyone.
While my vacation comes now to an abrupt close up here in very breezy overcast Aldeburgh it’s time to play catch up and give you a pre festive blog and update.
Let’s start with a bit of feedback from the RYA conference which was a very informative weekend. Lots of things learnt a good experience and a huge amount shared on things going on for the good and the bad in our region in the last year. Statistics proved that UK wide there were 10.2 million people were exposed and participated to water borne activities in the UK at RYA centres which goes to show the  increasing growth in our sports and activity’s.
The second day was more about the cruising aspect associated with members exploring new territories and that’s something hopefully we as a club can explore and  expanding upon for club members to look into going further afield next year with our new sailing secretary’s program hopefully.  (Any volunteers for taking this on).
The clubhouse is looking very festive thanks to those that assisted Darren and Liza in getting the baubles  on the trees etc.
Another reminder that went out earlier in the week if haven’t already done it get your names down on the Christmas grand draw lots of prizes. You have to be in it to win it!!
Last week I attended a meeting with ABP Re British ports and and the dredging movements in the Orwell and Stour Estuaries. Again some interesting improvements being made and regulation updates for smaller leisure and small vessels. Next year I shall make sure that the minutes are posted on the web site with all the other literature etc when received. From a River Stour perspective we expressed our concerns where the dredged spoil was being dispersed in the shallows West of Parkston  and this was drifting over time further down the river having an effect on the main channel for larger freight vessels. HH are looking into these operations and are undertaking further surveys in relation to the effects being identified and then to undertake a solution to rectify. More on this when the outcome is confirmed.
There is another meeting tonight Re HASA again the minutes of these meetings will also be made available on the SSC a website of any items that are relevant news issues or concerns for our members and their leisure vessels.
It’s in these dark and gloomy cold nights that you think nothing is being completed but how wrong you can be. We are still striving for excellence in performance of our systems to be that much easier for you to handle our renewal process next spring. This is and has really come on now and I’m sure you will notice a remarkable difference in the process for the future. This also includes improved payment mechanisms and should be no more difficult than ordering a drink at a bar so it makes it all so simple.
It’s also that time of the year where we can all be susceptible to illnesses colds flu and covid etc so I hope that your all currently fit and well.
I have heard of one or two with illnesses and we have one severe hospitalised injury which required some rather hi tech life changing surgery that became essential.  I can only wish them all a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing them back in the club in due course.
So that’s all from me for this one
Stay warm and well

Kind Regards
Commodore Colin
