Commodore’s Notes

Boats Set Adrift on the Evening of 15th July – the police have confirmed that due to lack of evidence or leads the reports have been filed.  However, they stress that it can be reopened if a suspect is identified at a later date.

Theft of Outboards – I have received notification of recent thefts of outboards at Holbrook Creek and Holbrook Bay.  Reports state that the thieves were ‘very determined’ and came fully prepared with the relevant tools to remove very secure outboards.

Cruiser Winter Storage and/or Craning 2019 – the dates are 13/14/15 November and a form is attached.  There will be copies of the form on the website and in the clubhouse.  For many, many years Gerry has managed the Cruiser lift-in and lift-out process.  He is now passing the baton on and I am sure you would join me in saying a huge thank you to him.  Committee members will be picking up the reigns this year – what a difficult act to follow!   Should you have any queries please contact commodore@stoursailingclub@gmail.co.uk or phone 07701080738.

Training Courses at Stour Sailing Club – if anyone is interested in either a VHF Course or a First Aid (at Sea) course, possibly a Defibrillator course, please contact Dave Perrott on training@stoursailingclub.co.uk or 07715091916 to register your interest.

Prosecco Evening – the next one is on 30th August and I will be behind the bar – that will be something to behold!  The bar will be open from 7.30 onwards and there will be free nibbles for everyone.

Dates for the Diary – 24th August visit to Shotley Sailing Club (from 19.15)– please put your name on the list in the clubhouse or contact Kelvin on 07581190859.

25th August Stutton Beach Picnic BBQ (18.10) – if anyone has space in their boat for passengers OR if any passengers are seeking passage please contact Kelvin as above.

14th/15th September – Ipswich (Curry Cruise) further details will follow

15th September (14.00) – Volunteers thank you BBQ – if you have helped the club in any way at all this year we want to say thank you with this free BBQ.

18th April 2020 – SSC Dinner at Wivenhoe House – more to follow.

Access to the West Compound – the new keypad has been very well received, thank you for that.  We have had reports of non-club members, including children, walking through the compound.  Please do not allow members of the public into the compound and always shut the gate both on entry and exit.
