Hi Everyone

Another fab day for weather and breeze sees me completing this month’s information blog. How exciting I hear the cries and what is, and has been going on.?

We satisfactorily saw the jubilees celebrations that was held under the marquee for Manningtree Town Council and constituents, a good evening was had by all attendees with a hog roast and some light entertainment. The following day saw the Mistley and Lawford celebrations at the Homefields which was eaqually enjoyable. The club hard was to host the fireworks display which led to slight confusion as weather conditions did not permit and the venue was changed to retain it at the Homefields site.

27th May saw the first of the seasons cruises and 4 boats set sail at various times and locations to Lowestoft. A pleasurable sale up with favourable weather conditions to the Royal Norfolk and Suffolk Yacht Club who provided our berthing arrangements and food right well. I was honoured to be invited for the passage to sail on Ozzy Owl and the skipper and crew made me welcome and ensured that we had a good hearty breakfast, and needless to say that there was plenty of ale aboard. Next one is to Chatham contact Kelvin Howlet for details.

4th June saw the reinstatement of the quiz night only 3 teams turned out but equally a fun night, next one is 9th July and is intended to make this a monthly event so get your team together and turn up. notify Liza at membership@stoursailingclub.co.uk or Tel 07974911319 to reserve your spot.

This week saw the completion of the table refurbishment at the club for the Bar and the Parlour. Hopefully the members will notice a remarkable improvement of tidiness and brightness with these areas with improved lighting and the superior finishes to the surfaces. Hopefully these assets will stand us in good stead for a few more years yet without any further charges or expense.

So this week sees Coffee and Cake this Wednesday 15th June 2022 and with weather permitting it will be under the marquee themed on jubilee celebrations.

Wednesday Evening see’s the bar open with an unknown bar steward.

Sat 18th June 16.00 -20.00 is a meet the team for NEW MEMBERS only and for those that joined since 31st March 2020. Please arrange to notify Liza at membership@stoursailingclub.co.uk or Tel 07974911319 to reserve your spot or to clarify.

On 26th June is the Manningtree Earth Festival on the beach and river frontage for the water Zone element there will be lots of things happening in and around the slip and in the marquee.

There will also be a programme of speakers giving short speeches interspersed with music from local bands and The Lemmings street entertainers. Speakers include Prof Nic Bury from the University of Suffolk, Dr Simon Lyster from Essex Climate Action, Prof Graham Underwood from University of Essex, Dr Chris Gibson ex Natural England etc. This is not a club event but am sure that pollution and climate change is of particular importance to the members and in particular river users

Don’t forget! to regularly check out the Website and also the Facebook pages for any changes to the program or introduction of last minute events

Manningtree Town Regatta is coming soon 16th 17th July 2022 don’t forget to volunteer your services to help where you can. You will be most welcome so get your names in early to Caroline C (rear Commodore) to be part of this auspicious event to make it the best ever. List on the board in the club
