Hi Everyone
Not too much to report on this one from last week, but just to make you the members aware.
The £70.00 that we raised at Coffee and Cake for the We Care Wildlife Charity was very well received and said that our donation would be of great assistance in helping to fund the charity and all the works that they do in preservation.
There has been no further names added to the list for WHAT Wivenhoe House Afternoon Tea on Tuesday 11th June 1-30-200 till 4pm @27.50 per head, so this is the last call, we already have subscribed a sufficient number but can always accommodate a few more last minutes should you wish to attend, so Please contact Louise direct should you wish to be added and she will advise on how to make the payment for what’s hoped to be a very pleasant and social warm afternoon.
Tonight, our Stalwart Beer Master (Richard M) will be again behind the bar to serve you again. As it is Bank Holiday there are extra shifts that could be undertaken by new additional bar trained people so put your names down on the spread sheet rota or the sheet at the top of the stairs if you are available to be able to assist or if you’re not trained yet ask Richard and he will oblige to show you how it all works.
No Micro sailing last night (Thursday) Hardly surprising as no water, which would have made it extremely difficult. Maybe next week!!
Last week saw the SSC Shotley and Titchmarsh contingents take to the water on a late Friday afternoon cruise to Ipswich to visit hostelries and spend the night at the Beacon Marina. This was a big fun night visiting establishments that we hadn’t been to before. We ate a lot, drunk a lot, on occasions sung a bit and laughed a lot before a good night’s sleep and a return the following day. This was not part of the normal cruising group Calander of events but was a last min decision for those with boats in those locations.
Hopefully, members will be out on their crafts and vessels and making the most of this fine long weekend ahead.
One thing that is particular visible when our members visit these other established marinas, Havens and clubs etc which I feel I should particularly mention is that some of the craft that you may pass or even berth next to could be of a substantial value as in our case next to a Sunseeker 27 meters cruiser Gin Palace in the region of 2.5 million Pounds.
So, one must be particularly careful and truly focussed when maneuvering around in these areas.
Why am I making this point? As more members are frequenting these areas it is important that you have the right and correct level of insurance appertained to your policy and its worth while checking on what level of covers that you have for your vessel or damage caused to others. We at the club and you as the owner of the vessels when requesting a mooring through the club sign a disclaimer that you do actually hold 1. Insurance of 3rd party liability for the vessel that is registered to that mooring and obviously that would also cover any insurances on the boat , equipment personal belongings etc that you as the holder seems fit. Or 2 Fully comprehensive which may or not cover the legal fees which would be included in any mitigating circumstances.
This disclaimer is not renewed annually and could lend it to easily become out of date or in some cases not renewed at all when completing your annual membership. The mooring master will be undertaking a spot check during the summer months requesting vision of some of your policy documents being current to ensure that you are compliant with our mooring regulations. The last thing one would want is for a situation to arise with a third party embarrassingly that it may sounds where there is no policy in place.
So, all for now I’m hoping to be about at the weekend to see anyone if you’re about but in the meantime I’m wishing you a lovely weekend in whatever your doing.
Stay safe and well!
Commodore Colin
