Good Afternoon

The close of another week with limited news I am afraid.

Apologies for last week’s bar attendance duties I previously stated that it was James Bolton stewarding when in fact Daren was also under the impression that he too wanted to undertake. Easily dealt with and Darren won!.

So, if you do want to do the stint in future can you please put your names down on the rota on the notice board but preferably the spread sheet attached to the bar whatsapp group.

Tonight sees the Bar Manager undertaking the duties, so Richard M will be the host and ready to serve you from 6pm ish for the early bird specials. Which is get there first , get served quick. How special is that! Come down and give your support.

This weekend is a busy week for me and takes me across the border into jolly Suffolk to Royal Hospital School for the RYA Club conference on Saturday and the Cruising Conference on the Sunday.

This is where all clubs in the eastern region have shared information on how and what works,  and what they can do with the club facilities to enhance the number of people of all ages and the promotion and awareness of water sports within their clubs. ( This doesn’t relate and include to any Bar activities)

Wednesday’s bar sessions are still receiving good attendances on a social front and is often of good atmosphere.

Heads up for diaries into the new year, I shall be organising an evening where we will be visited by Harwich Haven Port authorities. They will go through for some or most that are not aware of the traffic movements for leisure craft and boating in the estuary area, Marine safety and requirements , A Day in the life of a VTS & pilot activities, and other Haven updates and a Q&A. This will be held in the Parlour or upstairs in a more relaxed atmosphere in the bar. More on that once date is confirmed and I would like people to confirm a place on the board once in place.

There has been a number of incidents of boats becoming and breaking loose though insecure fixings and knots it may be a worthwhile opportunity to brush up in the warm with a piece of cord just to be more familiar and undertaking them with a degree of confidence that this doesn’t happen to you. There are plenty of books in the parlour that demonstrates the best and simple practices that we all take for granted. So get knotting.

New tide tables should have arrived by Christmas with the have chart info update for 2024, ready for your Santa Stocking. Will advise further once received for your collection as normal.
