Hi Everyone
With Sunshine planned and a long weekend ahead it could be a busy place down on the river and beach area so please be alert / vigil and keep an eye out for all other participants in and around our facilities.
Any visitors go without saying should be welcomed and they should have access to the quayside moorings and pontoons and should precede over members that have boats currently on the pontoon and that already have allocated moorings. These facilities that are still yet to be completed but are finding themselves to be almost permanent berths for maintenance and works being undertaken for ease and convenience, access long term in excess of 2 days.
This was not the intentions of providing these facilities and ruling for usages will be soon be incorporated into the club members constitution with the fees applicable to eradicate what is quickly becoming the norm of acceptance.
So, if this applies to you as a member, please arrange to have your crafts put back on their respective moorings and arrange through the Mooring Manager should you wish to embark ,disembark load, or unload on access to your vessel during a tide only, unless suitable consents have been granted.
Also as a reminder having had a couple of craft break free from moorings recently the owners of all club members crafts should have suitable cover of insurance for their Boats etc in accordance with the club and mooring policy’s. With weather and season due for imminent change and wind freshening there could be extra strains on mooring lines and ground tackle it is also the owner’s responsibility to check this and that it is suitable for the craft to be using it, so please do so and check it to eliminate any further risks of escaping boats.
On a better note It appears the club’s representation at this year’s Mersea Week was again very successful for the Manningtree region with Stuart Howells and crew on Dynamic won the class LH cruisers A Fleet, Robin Dutton with Strident and Stephen Jones in Phialle came 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Classic Yachts and Gaffers B Fleet.
A good week with windy conditions at times had by all, and congratulations to them all on this year’s achievements.
Other events this week was David Lodge and associates had a venture north to Lowestoft. This was to collect Davids new vessel a Seawolf 30 and then to sail it back to its new home on the Stour, again they seemed very fortunate on good weather and conditions. We look forward to seeing the boat out on the river soon.
The bar is still opening on all sessions over the weekend however while we do hold a long list of trained hands and it is very helpful of them to come forward, but it would be equally as nice and for some new volunteers to also take up the opportunity to or assist at some of these sessions so were not always reliant on the same volunteers. as can be seen the ever-important Bar Manger is away on a small vacation with friends on his boat Dolma and has made it to the delights of Wrabness before coffee break. enjoy.
